Losses to the state - 475 million hryvnias: A large-scale customs scheme uncovered in Volyn

The participants of a scheme for illegal minimization of customs payments at the Volyn customs, which caused over 475 million UAH in damages to the state, will face trial.

The scheme involved concealing imported valuable goods (mobile phones, computer equipment, branded clothing, etc.) with so-called "cover goods" of much lower value.

Officials at the Volyn customs ensured the clearance of goods without proper customs formalities, drafted forged acts of customs inspections, entered false information into the automated customs clearance system "Inspector," and deliberately failed to take measures to stop the criminal activity.

Currently, 13 individuals have been charged. For other participants of the scheme, the court rendered guilty verdicts based on plea agreements.
