Former maternity hospital official to be extradited from Germany: embezzled 4.5 million hryvnias of employees’ salaries

Based on the investigations of the detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security (BES), an international search for the suspect in the case of embezzlement of state funds intended for the payment of salaries to medical workers of the maternity hospital has been concluded. The woman held the position of head of the personnel department.

This was reported by the media from a statement by the BES.

"According to the investigation, the suspect, together with other officials of the maternity hospital, organized a scheme to embezzle budget funds allocated for salaries. They entered false data into official documents such as orders for employee appointments, bonuses, vacations, time sheets, salary accruals, and disbursement information, among others. The funds were then transferred to the cards of individuals controlled by the suspects. In this way, the group embezzled 4.5 million UAH during 2021 and the first three months of 2022," the statement says.

The woman was notified of the suspicion of embezzlement of state funds and official forgery. To avoid criminal liability, she left for Germany, and she was declared internationally wanted (at the request of the BES detectives, the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany decided to extradite the Ukrainian citizen to law enforcement agencies).
