In Kyiv, yards will be cleared for emergency services after a drone attack
The problem of "inaccessibility" of courtyards, which in residential areas are completely cluttered with randomly parked cars, is not new in Kyiv. Currently, its aggravation was caused by a massive drone attack on the capital on the night of March 23, when rescuers could not reach the impacted sites. The KMVA decided to combat the "parkers," due to whom it is impossible to enter the courtyards, with the help of protective bollards and hemispheres, but Kyiv residents themselves must immediately join in solving the problem on which their lives depend.
This opinion was expressed on her Facebook page by Kyiv resident Diana Natkhir, whose building was hit by an enemy drone on March 23. According to her, the issue of parked courtyards during rescue operations is the most critical. The residents themselves can influence to ensure that vehicles do not obstruct the access of special equipment.
"It seemed to me that we waited for the firefighters not very long, but an eternity. And it turned out that they simply could not enter our courtyard because of the large number of improperly parked cars. We watched during this time as the fire just destroyed everything around. It is not only someone’s property, but it is also a huge risk to life. For the same reason, a woman died in the Dnipro district," Diana Natkhir noted.
She suggests that Kyiv residents unite with their neighbors and inspect their own courtyard. Leave a phone number even on those cars that are parked correctly and do not obstruct access. After all, situations can vary, and rescue services may need any access.
Additionally, the resident advises checking fire extinguishers in the entrances, as her neighbors started extinguishing the fire in the apartments before the arrival of the firefighters on March 23. Therefore, it is essential to know where the fire extinguishers are, monitor their expiration dates, and ensure free access to fire hydrants on each floor.
Diana warns that after the drone debris falls, a secondary detonation is possible, so under no circumstances should one approach them or attempt to extinguish them independently. If possible, it is better to go outside - do not wait for evacuation but do it independently. At the same time, do not use the elevator, but go by stairs, ensuring that all stair landings are open and there are no restrictions for free movement. Of course, if possible, assist neighbors who need help in evacuating, as you can learn about them in the house chat.
