In Zakarpattia, a border guard was detained on suspicion of receiving a 5,000-dollar bribe

In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officers detained a border guard on suspicion of receiving a bribe of $5,000.

This was reported on the Telegram channel of the State Border Guard Service.

"For $5,000, he promised to assist with crossing the border for a conscript man and had already received the majority of the amount as an advance. The border guard planned to provide the ’client’ with safe routes across the section his unit is responsible for," the SBGS reported. He was taken into custody with the possibility of release on bail.

The border guard was charged with illegal transportation of a person across the border and receiving a bribe, as noted on the SBI’s website. If proven guilty in court, he faces up to 9 years in prison.
