Shot over a debt: former Deputy Mayor of Kamyanske Plakhotnik killed by several gunshots, suspect detained

The former deputy mayor of Kamyanske, Oleksandr Plakhotnik, was shot dead over a debt, the suspect is in custody, the prosecutor’s office reports.

The investigation believes that the man decided to independently eliminate the debtor, watched him for several months, and installed surveillance cameras near his house.

"On the morning of March 28, 2025, the suspect arrived at the victim’s residence. He then fired at least 10 shots with a firearm at the victim. The former official died on the spot from the injuries sustained. After that, the perpetrator fled the crime scene," the prosecutor’s office reports.
