In Ukraine, the right to disconnect electricity due to debt has been reinstated

As early as December 2023, the government reinstated the right for electricity suppliers to disconnect debtors, even with a monthly debt.

The company Yasno reminds its clients of the possible disconnection from the power grid for debts.

Disconnections do not apply to those living in combat zones or in temporarily occupied areas. No exemptions are provided for military families and families with children.

Yasno explained that disconnections occur under the conditions of the Rules of the Retail Electricity Market. A month’s debt may be grounds for disconnection, except in cases where the client lives in areas with ongoing hostilities or in territories temporarily occupied by Russia. In the event of property damage due to hostilities and the absence of residents, the debt is not collected for the period after February 24, 2022.
