Ursula von der Leyen voiced the EU’s position on Trump’s tariffs

The President of the European Commission recorded an address in response to the tariffs imposed by Trump.

Let us remind you that for the EU they amount to 20%. The European official promised to respond to these tariffs.

Ursula von der Leyen described the imposition of tariffs as a "serious blow to the global economy," which will lead to "huge consequences."

"Uncertainty will grow and trigger further protectionism. The consequences will be catastrophic for millions of people around the world, as well as for the most vulnerable countries currently suffering from one of the highest U.S. tariffs," said the head of the EC.

In her opinion, "the tariffs will hit consumers worldwide," and "the costs of doing business with the United States will increase significantly."

"We are ready to respond. We are already finalizing the first set of countermeasures in response to steel tariffs, and we are now preparing additional measures to protect our interests. I know that many of you feel betrayed by our long-standing ally," added von der Leyen.
