Zelenskyy arrived in Yahidne in the Chernihiv region
On the anniversary of the liberation of Chernihiv region from Russian invaders, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, visited Yahidne, where the occupiers held civilian hostages in the local school.
He reported this on his social media on Thursday, April 3.

«I came to support the people in Yahidne and to preserve the memory of what happened here during the Russian occupation. I visited the school where the Russians held all the villagers for almost a month. It was one of the most cynical Russian crimes of this war, a crime against humanity and everything human», — wrote the head of state.
At the same time, he noted that a lot has changed in this settlement since then.
According to the President, during the 27 days of occupation, the Russians caused significant damage to the town, but currently, out of the 150 damaged and 16 destroyed buildings, 56 have already been fully restored.
«A lot has already been restored and reconstructed. Work is also underway on memorializing what, unfortunately, people had to go through. None of us will ever forget or forgive Russia for what it has done. Thank you to everyone who is working on the restoration, helping people, and bringing normal life back to the village. This is extremely important», — added Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
