An expert assessed the threat from poisonous "shaheds": "The most important thing is not to approach"

Recently, Russian war criminals have started attacking Ukrainian cities with Shahed-type kamikaze drones that scatter explosive capsules containing toxic substances. The discussion is about tear gas, which poses a danger to the human body like any chemical substance, but is not lethal.

Therefore, the most important warning for citizens is not to approach such capsules, drone crash sites, and its debris. This was pointed out by chemical sciences candidate Hryhoriy Dmytriv.

"CS (an irritant) is a tear gas that causes acute irritation of mucous membranes, skin, and respiratory passages," the expert noted.

According to him, it’s a paralyzing gas, not a choking agent. It will "activate" only if the capsule containing it explodes. In other words, if the capsule dropped by the "Shahed" does not detonate, the gas will not be dispersed in the air.

In the event of an explosion, according to Dmytriv, the affected area can range from two to six meters.

"In fact, it’s not something extremely dangerous that would affect large areas and be widespread. Also, the harmfulness is temporary. The most important thing is not to approach the place where drones fall and to keep a distance. In case of exposure, it is advisable to consult a doctor, but there will be no lethal outcome," the expert emphasized.
