The death of a cadet in Khmelnytskyi is being investigated as a suicide - he shot himself with a rifle

This was reported to a Ukrinform correspondent by Yuliya Shevchenko, spokesperson for the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.

«A criminal case has been opened under this fact with the preliminary legal qualification of Part 1, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine «premeditated murder» with a note of «suicide», - noted Shevchenko.

It was preliminarily established that the 20-year-old cadet shot himself with a rifle that had been entrusted to him for duty in the daily detail.

The incident occurred in the academy dormitory. The investigation is currently determining the reasons for such an action.

Shevchenko added that the necessary examinations have been appointed, witnesses have been questioned, and several investigative (search) and procedural actions are planned to fully and objectively establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.

The pre-trial investigation will be conducted by investigators of the district police department of Khmelnytskyi region.
