The Supreme Court upheld the sentence of the former Deputy Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories Hrymchak
On Tuesday, April 29, the Cassation Criminal Court of the Supreme Court decided to leave unchanged the verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) from 23.02.2022 and the ruling of the HACC Appellate Chamber from 19.12.2023, which found former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories Yuriy Hrymchak guilty of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 190; Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 369; Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the circumstances of the criminal proceedings, the convict, in prior conspiracy with a person whose proceedings were terminated due to death, promised, for over 1 million US dollars, to influence officials in a responsible position on behalf of a limited liability company representative. For this sum, they supposedly were to assist in positively resolving the issue of obtaining permits for the construction (reconstruction) of a market within a protected zone, as well as collecting a debt in court from another enterprise.
It is noted that the Supreme Court agreed with the arguments of the SAPO prosecutor, dismissed the cassation complaint of the defense, and confirmed the legality of the courts’ decisions.
Thus, the former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The decision of the Supreme Court is final and not subject to appeal.
