UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed over 83,000 enemy targets in April - Syrskyi
In April 2025, the unmanned systems units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces hit and destroyed more than 83,000 enemy targets with drones. This figure is 8% higher than in March, meaning the effectiveness of strikes increased by another 5%.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, at a monthly meeting on unmanned systems. He emphasized that UAV operators have achieved outstanding results in defeating the enemy.
"I am grateful to our soldiers for their effectiveness. However, modern high-tech warfare requires constant advancement, even higher efficiency, and expanded efforts in the field of drones," added the General.
Commanders of UAV units participated in the meeting. In their speeches, they shared unique experiences in using drones and achieving the best results. Syrsky stressed that their combat experience, organizational and technological innovations, as well as suggestions for solving problematic issues, are the most valuable at such events.
"The UAV direction is a priority for us because it allows us to restrain the enemy and destroy them at a distance while preserving the life and health of our infantry," noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to him, the Defence Forces are currently working to expand UAV units to brigades and regiments, equip them, and build their capabilities.
There is also an increase in the volume of specialized training for UAV operators in training centers, as well as the development of interaction between the army and the public sector, including the training of drone operators in civilian schools.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have developed a roadmap for forming a collective training system for UAV units. The defenders’ first task is to destroy Russian UAV operators and their command posts.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ unmanned systems forces have successfully tested methods of such combat in the operational zone of one of the operational-tactical groups. However, the enemy is also not idle, so Ukrainians cannot afford to underestimate the successes of the Russian aggressor in the field of unmanned systems.
"We must maintain a high pace and outpace the enemy in implementing advanced technological solutions on the battlefield, using all the capabilities of our military, society, defense industry, as well as assistance from partner countries," summarized Syrskyi.
