The Armed Forces of Ukraine propose to introduce mandatory military service for women

The Armed Forces of Ukraine suggest more actively involving women in conscription service.

The gender issues advisor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oksana Hryhoryeva, stated that the state made a mistake by not raising this issue since 2014.

“We lost out by not ’pushing’ the topic of women joining the conscription service in the army. If we had started promoting it back then, perhaps it wouldn’t be as painful today,” said Hryhoryeva.

According to her, it is now important not only to recognize the significant role of women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine but also to create conditions for their full participation in conscription service on equal terms with men.
