In Kryvyi Rih, a fire occurred in an infectious disease hospital: there is a fatality

Photos and videos from the scene have been published online – the footage shows the smoke-covered building, the work of rescuers, and the evacuation of patients. Later it became known that the fire broke out on the morning of May 20 at the infectious disease hospital in Kryvyi Rih. While the staff urgently evacuated patients from the smoky premises, rescuers, upon arrival, discovered the body of a man in the corridor of the diagnostic department.

The incident was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Dnipropetrovsk region. The rescuers noted that the fire damaged the walls of the wards and corridors.

"In the morning, a report about a fire in a seven-story hospital building located in the Metallurgical district of Kryvyi Rih was received. Upon arrival at the scene, rescuers determined that a ward on the second floor with an area of 30 square meters was on fire. During the elimination of the fire, firefighters discovered a deceased man," the report states.

Soon after, information emerged that the deceased man suffered from "chronic drug addiction" and was a 38-year-old patient of the infectious disease hospital.

27 rescuers and 7 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The fire damaged the interior lining of the ward walls and parts of the corridor. The fire was localized and extinguished.
