The Kyiv Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, has notified the head of the military medical commission (MMC) of one of the medical institutions of the State Border Service of suspicion.

A colonel of the medical service is accused of systematically receiving bribes under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation has established that the official organized a scheme for receiving unlawful benefits from border guards who were directed to undergo the MMC. For a monetary reward reaching several thousand dollars, he entered false information into medical documents.

This includes, in particular, the artificial recognition of servicemen as having limited fitness for service, issuing leave for health reasons, or referring them for treatment in departmental medical facilities without medical grounds.

The investigation is ongoing, and the issue of selecting a preventive measure is being considered.
