British intelligence: The losses of the Russian army in Ukraine have reached one million personnel
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Russian Armed Forces have likely lost one million service personnel killed and wounded.
This was reported by the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence on the social network X, citing intelligence data.
Of this number, about 250,000 Russian soldiers and officers may have been killed, which represents Russia’s largest losses since World War II, British military officials emphasize.
The cumulative irrecoverable losses of the Russian army - meaning those killed, missing, and severely wounded who are unable to return to duty - range from 400,000 to 500,000 individuals. Meanwhile, the flow of severely wounded continues to overwhelm the Russian military medical system at all levels, from field hospitals to specialized clinics. This leads to serious disruptions in logistics, a shortage of qualified personnel, and an escalation of the staffing crisis in the medical units, notes the UK Ministry of Defence.
