Promised employment in the police: Head of the judicial protection service of Lviv region detained for bribery
The head of the Judicial Security Service of Lviv region, Volodymyr Semenyna, was caught receiving a bribe of $4,000, for which he promised assistance in employment in the police.
The head promised his acquaintance assistance in employment. However, when he realized that he could not fulfill this promise, he offered to arrange for him a position in the Judicial Security Service. For this, the colonel of the Judicial Security Service demanded $4,000, which he instructed to be handed over through his accomplice.
The corrupt officials were notified of suspicion under part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Semenyna has been leading the service since 2019. He has spent many years working in law enforcement, including heading the regional traffic police in Ternopil, and in 2008 he became the head of the traffic police in the Lviv region. He closely cooperated with the former head of the Lviv police, General Vasyl Pisnyi. Among other things, in 2008 Vasyl Pisny received a plot of land for house construction as a gift from Volodymyr Semenyna. In 2014, he was appointed the head of the traffic police in Bukovyna, and even protests were organized against this appointment.
Until August 2019, Volodymyr Semenyna was an assistant to the head of the National Police, and before and after this position, he worked in the police security department.
