Russia is conducting a modernization of the "Shahed" strike drones, including equipping the drones with jet engines to increase their flight speed.

To counter the improved "Shahed" drones, Ukraine is working on developing appropriate interceptor drones, reported the commander of the 429th separate unmanned systems regiment "Achilles", Yuriy Fedorenko, to the publication "Unian".

"The enemy is now engaged in the modernization of UAVs, making them jet-powered, which will give them the ability to move faster. Therefore, today we are working on developing jet interceptors. We are lagging behind in this — we are working today on what was needed yesterday," explained Yuriy Fedorenko.

According to the military official, Ukraine needs to attract resources and people to expand the production of drones. He emphasized that both constant state support and the participation of every Ukrainian are important.

The commander of the 429th regiment "Achilles" noted that Russia has significantly increased drone production and has made them more resistant to electronic warfare systems (EWS). The enemy plans to produce about 500 of such UAVs per day.
