At the directive of Bankova: The government is blocking Tsyvinskyi’s appointment as the head of the BES
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reviewed the submission of the commission for the selection of the director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine regarding the appointment of Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi as director at its regular meeting. The government unanimously decided to appeal to the commission with a proposal to resubmit no more than two candidates.
This was reported by the government’s press service.
The manual government, under the direction of Bankova, is blocking Tsyvinskyi’s appointment as director of the BES, according to the media.
It is noted that the Cabinet studied additional materials provided, in particular, by the Security Service of Ukraine, which concern national security issues and contain relevant security assessments. Thus, the members of the government decided to appeal to the commission for the selection of the director of the Bureau of Economic Security so that it resubmits no more than two candidates who "meet all established requirements, including security criteria."
"This decision fully complies with the provisions of the Law of Ukraine ’On the Bureau of Economic Security’ and ensures the proper adherence to the procedures for appointing the BES leadership. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine remains committed to the principles of transparency and accountability in the process of forming the leadership of all executive authorities of Ukraine," the message states.
Recall, the competitive commission for the selection of the director of the Bureau of Economic Security will submit one candidate to the Cabinet of Ministers for appointment. Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi became the winner of the competition for the head of the BES. The candidate received three "yes" votes from international experts on the commission. The first round of voting took place on June 23, as a result of which the competitive commission selected two candidates from the 16 who were interviewed.
According to media reports, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi has a legal education and extensive experience in law enforcement agencies. He hails from the Lviv region. He is the head of the Third Detective Unit of the Second Main Unit of Detectives of NABU and is one of the leaders of the "Clean City" operation, which NABU and SAPO conducted in early February to expose those involved in corruption in Kyiv’s land and budget sectors.
