Zelenskyy on Russia’s attack on Kyiv: "This is terrorism"

Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the massive attack by Russia on Kyiv was connected with the start of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC-2025), which is kicking off in Rome.

The President of Ukraine stated this during his speech at the opening of the conference.

Zelenskyy, after thanking the partners for participating in the high-level meeting, expressed confidence that this event also drew Moscow’s attention.

"Russia also prepared for this event. Last night they carried out a massive attack on Kyiv," – he explained.

Zelenskyy emphasized that it was an attack on civilian objects and cities that do not pose a military threat. "This is pure terrorism," – the president stressed.

The head of Ukraine reminded that Ukraine intends to achieve a ceasefire, but Russia is determined to continue its aggression. "Last year, it was part of Russian propaganda that Russia wants peace, a ceasefire, negotiations… Now everyone sees that Russia has rejected all ideas regarding a ceasefire," – he added.

Considering this, partners must make efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. "We need to stop Russian drones and missiles – this means more air defense systems,"  – the president declared and called on "all partners" to increase their investments in this sector.
