Zelenskyy instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to synchronize the EU sanctions against Russia with Ukrainian jurisdiction
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy listened to a report from Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha to discuss the 18th EU sanctions package against Russia, cooperation with the USA, and the situation at the border between Russia and Georgia concerning Ukrainian citizens.
The president reported this on his Telegram channel.
"We summarized the work with partners in the European Union regarding the 18th sanctions package. I instructed to promptly synchronize the package in Ukrainian jurisdiction. We are also working with European countries outside the EU to have them join the relevant sanctions regimes," he said.
Sybiha also reported on agreements with the United States, which are currently in progress.
"Good dynamics, we expect results and strengthening of our cooperation with America. We are preparing a meeting with ambassadors this Monday to set priorities, particularly regarding further relations with the USA," Zelenskyy wrote.
He also listened to the minister’s report on the situation at the border between Russia and Georgia concerning Ukrainian citizens who are "practically ’thrown out’ of Russian territory without documents and without warning either the Ukrainian or Georgian sides."
"In particular, these are Ukrainians whom the Russians are releasing from prisons and camps on Russian-controlled territory. Ukrainian diplomats are organizing the transit of these citizens of our state to Ukraine," Zelenskyy noted.
The president and the minister also discussed the appointment of new Ukrainian ambassadors to partner countries.
