The Head of the European Commission reached out to Zelenskyy for explanations regarding the limitation of NABU’s powers

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has requested clarification from Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada, which limits the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

This was reported by the spokesperson for the European Commission, Guillaume Mercier. According to him, von der Leyen is concerned both about the content of the law itself and the potential implications for the independence of anti-corruption bodies.

«The President expects clarifications from the Ukrainian authorities regarding the bill and its compliance with Ukraine’s commitments in the area of the rule of law», — Mercier noted.
