The General Staff confirmed the strike on the Saratov Oil Refinery: explosions and a fire were recorded
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed strikes on an oil refinery in Saratov. As a result of the UAV attack, explosions were heard and a fire broke out on the territory of the enemy facility.
The operation was carried out by the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with other units of the Defence Forces.
This was reported by the General Staff.
The refinery supplied Putin’s army
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, explosions and a fire were recorded on the territory of the oil refinery following the UAV strikes. The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of the key facilities of Russia’s fuel infrastructure, involved in supplying petroleum products to the occupation forces. Its annual processing capacity is about 7 million tons of oil.
"The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to systematically take measures aimed at reducing the enemy’s military and economic potential in order to force it to cease armed aggression against our state. Each damaged facility on the territory of the Russian Federation that is involved in supporting its criminal war against Ukraine brings us closer to a just peace," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.
Strategic facility under UAV attack
The controlling stake in the Saratov Oil Refinery (over 81%) belongs to the company "Rosneft". The plant’s capacity is 6.75 million tons of oil per year. The refinery processes Urals oil, as well as oil from the Saratov, Sorochinsk, Orenburg, and Zaikinsk fields.
The plant produces more than 20 types of petroleum products. Among the main products are unleaded gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, vacuum gas oil, and technical sulfur.
