In the Sumy direction, the activity of Russian troops has noticeably decreased, particularly in the areas of the Khotynska and Yunakivska communities. Currently, the situation has stabilized, and the shelling and sabotage actions by the occupiers occur much less frequently.

As reported in the national telethon broadcast by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, the situation does not indicate a weakening of the Russian army but is explained by a change in the enemy’s tactics.

Russia is withdrawing some of the accumulated forces from the Sumy region and redeploying them to other sections of the front, primarily to the South, where it is trying to concentrate resources for a larger-scale offensive. However, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the defence line.

"It is there that Russia seeks to concentrate resources and is gradually accumulating them, counting on more significant advancements. This creates new challenges and threats for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the whole of Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the defence line," he explained.

Additionally, Andriy Demchenko noted that shelling from the territory of Russia continues along the entire border strip — in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. The enemy is more actively using drones for attacks, including optical-electronic system drones and for drops, which significantly increases the intensity of shelling in recent times.

"The number of shelling and the use of weapons by the enemy on our territory is not decreasing; on the contrary, the number of strikes using drones is increasing, particularly FPV drones, drones with optical-locating systems, and also drops carried out precisely from drones. It is this advantage of shelling using drones that is especially noticeable in the recent period," added the spokesperson of the SBGSU.
