Zelenskyy welcomes UN sanctions against Iran and calls for pressure on Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the UN Security Council’s decision to restore sanctions against Iran.

This was stated on his Telegram channel.

“Tehran has long ignored the calls of the IAEA and the international community, undermining the nuclear order. This must become a global rule: whenever someone undermines or threatens international peace and security, tough sanctions must be imposed immediately,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President added that Russia is acting in unison with Iran, having seized a Ukrainian nuclear power plant with its nuclear materials and turning the Zaporizhzhya NPP into a global nuclear threat.

“Reckless regimes that ignore basic norms of international law and pursue ambitions that jeopardize nuclear security must face a united and strong international response. Tough state and collective pressure on Russia, as well as sanctions against its nuclear sector, are necessary to strengthen the international nuclear order,” the Ukrainian leader stated.
