Volunteers urge timely evacuation: it is almost impossible to evacuate people from Pokrovsk now
Over the past month, evacuation from Pokrovsk has become almost impossible as Russian occupiers attack any movement in the city.
This was reported by Roman Zhylyenkov, a volunteer from the EAST SOS Charitable Foundation, during a broadcast on "Espreso."
"If there is an opportunity, and even if there isn’t, it is necessary to evacuate from frontline cities and settlements. Believe me, there are no circumstances under which evacuation would be impossible. You need to leave. Even if it’s just to wait it out temporarily. We fully understand people’s fears about the lack of places to live. However, it must be acknowledged that one of the biggest problems for evacuation right now is the shortage of places for permanent residence for evacuees. We even have a concept called “the queue of life.” People wait for weeks in shelters to be sent to permanent residences. For example, over the past week, we had 30 such people. This problem needs to be addressed together with the state," Zhylyenkov noted.
The volunteer urged for timely evacuation, as delays often result in it becoming impossible to evacuate people from frontline cities.
"Over the past month, there has been practically no opportunity to evacuate from Pokrovsk. There were isolated cases when the military managed to evacuate someone, but these are just a few individuals. Right now, even a stray cat becomes a target for the enemy there. The idea of going in and evacuating someone is out of the question. It’s a 100% death sentence. That’s why we constantly emphasize that evacuation must be timely," he stressed.
