Battle for Pokrovsk: Pokrovska Mine – a strategic object, two complexes completely destroyed and beyond repair

This is how the "Pokrovska" mine looks now — a strategically important object in the battles for Pokrovsk, as reported by the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the "Sharp Caps" unit.

The mine is located in the direction where the expansion of the Russian bridgehead on the left flank of the city is possible.

In December 2024, the mine’s administration announced a partial suspension of operations in the village of Pishchane due to the frontline approaching Pokrovsk.

In January 2025, it was reported that the operations of the mines of the Pokrovska Coal Group had been completely halted. In March, the main shaft and the lifting equipment of the "Pokrovske" mine management were destroyed.

At the moment, two complexes of the mine are completely destroyed and cannot be restored, according to the "Caps." One of the launch complexes is under occupation, while the other is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, though Russian forces attempt to capture it daily.

After 2014, "Pokrovska" remained the only coal enterprise in the Ukrainian-controlled territory that mined coking coal, essential for metallurgy.
