Russian X-59 missile was shot down in Odesa: debris damaged a house
On February 13, Russian occupation forces fired an X-59 missile at Odessa. Air defense forces shot it down, but the debris damaged an uninhabited new building and a high-rise building.
Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. Details were provided by the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration Oleg Kiper and the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine.
According to Kiper, all services are working at the site where the wreckage of the downed missile fell.
“The enemy fired an X-59 missile at Odessa. Our Air Defense Forces worked on the enemy target. The debris of the downed missile damaged civilian infrastructure: an uninhabited new building and a high-rise building. Fortunately, there were no injured people. All relevant services are working on the spot. Law enforcement officers are recording the consequences of another Russian crime," the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration said in a statement.
The Southern Defense Forces clarified that the Russians launched the X-59 from tactical aircraft maneuvering over the Black Sea.
“The Air Defense Forces shot down a missile on its approach from the sea to the city. The debris of the downed missile damaged the unfinished construction and glazing of several multi-storey buildings in the coastal zone,” the military noted.
They added that explosives experts are working at the crash site: they will make sure that Odessa residents do not suffer from dangerous remnants of the rocket.
