Ukraine begins negotiations with the US and EU regarding the resumption of air travel, – Kubrakov

It is too early to talk about any dates, the minister emphasized. But the Ukrainian side is already conveying to regulators its vision of how the market will operate under martial law, as well as its risk assessment, approaches and algorithms.

“There are not many examples in the world where there are airports where drones or missiles can fly in at any time. Israel is the most successful example. We spent and continue to spend a lot of time consulting with the Israeli civil aviation administration,” Kubrakov said.

According to him, at the level of plans there are different scenarios for the number of airports that can be opened in Ukraine.

“It is important for us to hear the first official feedback from regulators,” the minister added.

Kubrakov assured that there are European airlines that are interested and want to be the first to resume work on the Ukrainian aviation market, but refused to name them. Negotiations, he said, are also ongoing with three Ukrainian companies.

“They also confirm, of course, that they want to fly here, these are their base airports, their base country,” the minister said.

As for creating your own national aviation operator, for now, as Kubrakov explained, during the war this is definitely not the main priority, but then this issue will need to be returned to.
