Russia attacks Ukraine’s power grid to disrupt defence industry - ISW
Experts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) suggest that new Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system are aimed at undermining the defence-industrial potential.
This is reported by ISW .
On the night of March 21-22, Russian troops carried out the largest series of combined missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Analysts note that Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities may be aimed at undermining Ukrainian defense-industrial potential, and the occupiers are likely trying to use the shortage of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems in a new attempt to destroy the Ukrainian energy system.
Experts add: Russian forces failed to destroy the Ukrainian power grid on March 22, but may continue to carry out intensive attacks on energy infrastructure in subsequent series of strikes, especially to take advantage of persistent delays in Western security assistance that have significantly limited the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defence system. .
