Ukraine needs at least 5-7 more Patriot systems, - Kuleba

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that Western partners have provided Ukraine with insufficient air defense systems, in particular Patriot, given the scale of Russian missile attacks.

Kuleba stated this in an interview with Reuters .

According to the Ukrainian minister, he intends to raise issues of Patriot missile defense systems at every meeting with colleagues that will take place over the next two days in Brussels.

Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure in recent weeks, underscoring Kyiv’s urgent need for protection.

“Our partners have provided us with different (air defense) systems, we are grateful for that, but it is simply not enough given the scale of the war,” Kuleba said.

The Foreign Minister said that Ukraine needs at least 5-7 more Patriot systems, but partners do not want to share them, although they have more than 100 such systems in their arsenal.

“Is this such a big problem? Is it really impossible to satisfy Ukraine’s minimum request?” – Kuleba asked.

He is convinced that it is “only a matter of political will.”

Kuleba said he does not understand why the allies have not yet provided additional Patriots, especially since Kyiv’s partners do not face the missile threat that Ukraine faces every day.
