Serving a summons to a journalist: Prosecutor General’s Office opened a case
SBI investigators will look into the incident. The violations were preliminarily classified under two articles.
In Ukraine, they tried to serve a subpoena on an investigative journalist who prepared material about the elite housing of the head of the cyber defence department of the SSU, Illya Vityuk. On April 8, the Attorney General’s Office responded to the incident.
The press service reported that the Office of the Prosecutor General opened a criminal case.
“In connection with the incident that took place during the delivery of a subpoena to the journalist Slidstvo.Info, the Office of the Prosecutor General entered information into the ERDR regarding the fact of possible abuse of official powers and obstruction of the professional activities of journalists by employees of the SSU and TRC, according to the preliminary legal qualification of Part 1 Article 364, Part 3 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the publication says.
The pre-trial investigation into this case was entrusted to the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
