Should we expect restrictions in power supply?

According to Hota, the situation in the energy system, despite the destruction of the thermal power plant, remains stable.

“I hope that the people of Kyiv will not feel (the consequences - ed.) today. But this is a question not only for us, but for the entire energy system of Ukraine. As of today, I have information that the situation is stable,” he added.

Complete loss of generation

“This is thermal generation, this is flexible generation. That is, we will feel it during peaks in electricity consumption,” said the chairman of the supervisory board of Centerenergo PJSC.

He noted that the agile generation operates during peak times and meets demand at times when other generations cannot.

“Not wind, not sun, not hydro, but heat generation can do this. Well, unfortunately, today it can’t,” Hota noted.

Time frame for restoration of thermal power plants

Gota said that now there is a deadline for restoring the station. He noted that in August 2023 the team had a similar “picture”. At the same time, the blocks were not destroyed, but stopped and unable to work.

“And in just a few months we have already entered the winter at almost maximum capacity. Therefore, we know how to restore from scratch and the approximate time frame. But I cannot name these terms due to objective reasons,” he explained.
