Brigadier General Hennadiy Shapovalov heads the operational command "South"
The operational command "South" with headquarters in Odesa was headed by Brigadier General Hennadiy Shapovalov.
Today he was introduced to the personnel by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk.
The former commander, Major General Andriy Kovalchuk, became the head of the Odesa Military Academy.
Hennadiy Shapovalov was born in 1978 in the Kirovohrad region. In 2000, he graduated with honors from the Institute of Tank Forces at the Kharkiv State Polytechnic University, and in 2012, with honors, from the Command and Staff Institute for the Use of Troops (Forces) of the National Defence University of Ukraine.
He rose from the commander of a tank platoon to the commander of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk. In March 2022 he became a brigadier general.
He graduated from the National University "Ostrog Academy" with a degree in "International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies" and the US Army War College, where they train senior officers.
