Poltava Regional Council official faces imprisonment: he went on a ’business trip’ to the wrong country

The Deputy Chairman of the Poltava Regional Council was served with suspicion for traveling around Europe under the guise of a business trip. The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine shared the details on April 16.

According to the investigation, in March 2023, the Ukrainian took a business trip to the Polish city of Bydgoszcz, but after leaving Ukraine he went “on personal business to one of the southwestern EU countries.” There he spent his entire “business trip”.

“This is evidenced by statements from bank cards that the official used to pay bills in foreign hotels, restaurants and shops,” the SSU noted.

In addition, it is reported that during his trip, the deputy signed a power of attorney for a foreign woman to purchase real estate in the EU. Upon his return, he lied in the report about his “business trip.”

During the searches, the suspect was found with documents confirming his residence and movement abroad, and mobile phones with evidence. A case was opened under three articles - official forgery, fraud and forgery of documents or their use.

“The attacker faces imprisonment,” the press service emphasized.

The Poltavashchyna publication, citing sources, informed that we are talking about Oleh Bilonozhko. According to media reports, such a “business trip” actually took place, but the trip was financed from the budget “not 100%.”
