The Russian attack on the energy system on May 8 knocked out two hydroelectric power stations at once.

The Ukrhydroenergo company announced the decommissioning of two hydroelectric power plants after the May 8 missile attack. This is reported on website.

“On May 8, during the morning shelling of critical infrastructure, significant damage was caused to hydropower facilities. To date, all hydroelectric power generation has received devastating damage. Destroyed equipment requires considerable effort for repair, restoration and significant financial resources,” the company reported.

Ukrhydroenergo does not indicate what kind of power plants these are, but it was publicly reported that Russia attacked electricity generation and transmission facilities in three regions located along the Dnipro: Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad and Poltava.

Yesterday’s shelling was the fifth in the last month and a half. Prior to this, the Russians carried out massive attacks on energy facilities on March 22 and 29, as well as on April 11 and 27. In between, they also carried out targeted strikes on the power grid.
