In Ukraine, it would be possible to attract 10-20 thousand men of military age, prisoners or criminal records.

Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Malyuska said this in an interview with BBC News Ukraine .

“Ten to twenty thousand. Definitely no more. But again, the question is in the approaches. I say the numbers are completely miscalculated, because depending on each scenario the number will be different. A lot also depends on military medical commissions,” Malyuska said.

In his opinion, in each specific case it is necessary to determine whether a particular fighter is useful for the Armed Forces, and it is they who determine who is suitable and who is not.

The minister also noted that the category of men convicted of murder can also be mobilized, however, unlike Russia, where prisoners without training were simply used in “meat” assaults, the Armed Forces provide for training and a contract.

“We are talking about other stories, this is a contract (for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine). A contract is an agreement, these are legal mechanisms that are not just recruited, released, and then don’t know what to do,” the minister noted.
