Ex-Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Lozynskyi will be tried for bribery
The case against former Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Vasyl Lozynskyi has been sent to court.
This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office .
Lozynskyi is accused of asking for a 40 million UAH bribe and receiving part of it in the amount of $400,000.
In the summer of 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 1.41 billion for the purchase of equipment to provide the population with alternative sources of light, heat and water supply in the winter against the backdrop of the destruction of critical infrastructure.
According to the investigation, a senior official in the ministry embezzled part of these funds. He ensured the conclusion of supply contracts at a price 25-30% above the market price with predetermined companies. They were also required to transfer 7-10% of the contract amount as a “reward”.
To minimize the risk of exposure, the participants in the scheme adopted secrecy: the bribe for the first tranche of $400,000 was transferred to a trusted representative of the deputy minister in Lviv. After receiving the money, anti-corruption authorities detained this man and four participants in the scheme, including the deputy minister.
