The offensive in the Kharkiv region could be the first wave of Russian attacks, - Zelenskyy
The situation in the region is controlled, but not stabilized. The Russians launched the operation in several waves.
Asked whether Russia plans to seize Kharkiv, home to more than a million people, Putin replied: “There are no such plans for Kharkiv today.” But Zelenskyy said Russian forces “want to attack” the city, although they understand it will be “very difficult.”
“They understand that we have forces that will fight for a long time,” he said.
He also noted that Russia does not have enough forces for “a full-scale attack on the capital, such as it was at the beginning of the offensive.”
But he stressed that Ukraine and its Western allies must not show weakness and called for the deployment of two Patriot batteries to protect the skies over the Kharkiv region and show Ukraine’s resilience.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will hold its lines of defence and stop any Russian breakthrough.
