Austria will allocate 5 million euros to restore Ukraine’s energy sector

The Austrian government will allocate 5 million euros for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

ORF reports this.

A DOE press release said the money would be used to rebuild Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which was severely damaged after more than two years of widespread war.

The money coming from the budget of the relevant ministry should be used to purchase urgently needed spare parts, generators and repair of power lines.

Energy Minister Leonor Gewessler said that as a neutral country, Austria "also has an obligation to stand on the side of humanity in this war."

Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria Vasyl Khymynets thanked Vienna for the “powerful signal of solidarity.”
