Former Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority official Shyrokov got a job at Kyiv City State Administration to take bribes from road carriers

Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration Maxym Shyrokov, who demanded a bribe from Kyiv road carriers, was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 CC.

Before his appointment, Maxym Shyrokov was the head of the USPA branch in the Odesa region for a long time. There he received suspicion under Art. 367 of the Criminal Code when executing a contract agreement for dredging work in the waters of the Pivdennyi seaport. In 2023, the case went to trial.

Despite the corruption case and suspicion of negligence, Shirokov passed the test and received a position in the Kyiv City State Administration, where he continued his corruption schemes. Together with a private entrepreneur, he organized extortions from motor carriers in the capital.

In April 2024, the SBI was contacted by the wife of a serviceman, who managed her husband’s transportation company while he was serving. According to her, Shyrokov systematically put pressure on the company with the requirement to transfer him 40 thousand hryvnia weekly for the right to work on the route. Otherwise, she was threatened with termination of the existing contract for passenger transportation. The money had to be transferred through an intermediary entrepreneur. Law enforcement officers detained him immediately after receiving the first part of the bribe.
