Russia must pay $486 billion in damages caused to Ukraine - G7 statement

Leading world states have united in demanding that the Russian Federation pay an amount of $486 billion to compensate for the damage caused to the Ukrainian side as a result of the large-scale invasion.

This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders of the G7 countries.

G7 leaders have made it clear that frozen Russian assets will remain under arrest until Moscow ceases hostilities against Ukraine and fulfills its financial obligations to Kyiv in full. Otherwise, these funds will be confiscated and transferred to restore the Ukrainian infrastructure destroyed by Russian aggression.

Exactly 486 billion dollars will be needed to restore Ukraine, according to the World Bank.

In addition, the G7 countries promised to put “significant pressure” on the Kremlin’s income from energy and commodity exports. Such a step aims to undermine Russia’s financial ability to continue large-scale aggression against Ukraine.
