NABU suspects former MIA official of misappropriation of UAH 16 million in procurement
On June 17, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau reported suspicion of theft of property in the amount of UAH 16 million to the former head of the state institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the owner and director of a private enterprise.
This was reported by the NABU press service.
According to the investigation, in 2020, the head of a state institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collusion with the owner and director of a private enterprise, ensured the conclusion of an agreement for the supply of computer equipment worth more than 26 million hryvnia.
The company purchased this equipment through gasket companies from the manufacturer at market prices and delivered it to the customer at a price artificially increased by almost three times.
As a result, the state suffered 16.6 million hryvnia of damage.
The director of the enterprise was detained, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of bail in the amount of 3 million hryvnia.
The actions of the participants in the scheme are qualified under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position.
