Cabinet of Ministers allocated 5.7 billion hryvnia for housing for veterans

The funds allocated by the Cabinet of Ministers will be used to purchase housing for 2,500 veterans and members of their families.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the distribution of housing subsidies for UAH 5.7 billion in 2024. On July 2, on the page of the government portal, with reference to the Minister of Veterans Affairs Oleksandr Porkhun, it was reported that almost 2,500 people will receive funds for housing under three budget programs.

According to the head of the Ministry of Veterans, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the distribution of subventions for the payment of compensation for the purchase of housing under three budget programs.

“The Ministry of Veterans has collected summary information from the regions about the need to pay monetary compensation for the purchase of housing. In the near future, local fund managers will already transfer, according to a monthly schedule, monetary compensation to special recipient accounts opened at Oschadbank. After receiving the funds, veterans and family members of the deceased independently choose the housing they want to purchase. Such housing can be both on the secondary market and on the primary market, provided that it is necessarily put into operation,” explained Oleksandr Porkhun.

Who can receive housing payments

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, money for the purchase of housing can be received by:

• persons with disabilities as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war of groups I - II, who stood up to defend Ukraine, as well as family members of killed or deceased combatants;
• persons with disabilities as a result of the I-II war, who took part in hostilities on the territory of other states, as well as family members of killed or deceased participants in hostilities abroad;
• internally displaced persons who participated in the ATO/JFO and were recognized as combatants or persons with disabilities as a result of the III Group war.

It is noted that last year the government allocated UAH 5.9 billion for payments to veterans for the purchase of housing. Of the 2,600 combatants and members of their families, among whom budget funds were distributed, 2,155 have already purchased housing.

How to get money for housing for veterans

To receive budget payments, you need to submit an application and documents to the executive department of the local government in order to register as an apartment. After this, you need to submit documentation to the Central Administrative Service or the social protection authority, wait for the commission’s decision and open an account in Oschadbank, where the funds will be received according to the monthly schedule.

Please note that it is necessary to purchase housing under the program for veterans within a year from the date of receipt of the money.
