MP explains how to act when forcibly detained and taken to the TRC

Ukrainians have the right to appeal to the court or to senior management in case of violation of the law by representatives of the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TRC and SS) and the National Police. This was stated by MP from the Servant of the People, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence Fedir Venislavskyi in response to the question of how to act when men are detained on the street and put on buses.

The parliamentarian noted that such actions by the TRC must be justified. If a person liable for military service was duly notified of the need to appear at the TRC and SS, but failed to do so, the police have the right to detain him, take him to the TRC and SS and send him to the appropriate training center.

At the same time, the deputy admitted that sometimes TRC employees violate the law.

“The employees of TRC and SS are living people, and sometimes their nerves can’t stand it. They commit violations of the law. We react to this both at the committee level and at the level of the relevant management of TRC and SS, in the Ministry of Defence, in the General Staff, and all cases of unlawful actions are under control. Relevant official investigations are carried out. If there are grounds for registering criminal proceedings, they are registered,” Venislavskyi said.

According to him, every case of unlawful actions by employees of TRC and SS receives a proper assessment.

“If a person finds himself in a situation that, in his opinion, is associated with unlawful actions or abuse of duty by an official of the TRC and SS, or the National Police, he has the right, like any citizen, to appeal these actions to the court or to senior management. You can write to us at the official address of the committee, the official address of people’s deputies,” explained Venislavskyi.

He assured that all such requests are carefully considered, internal investigations are carried out and appropriate measures are taken.
