At Ramstein, the Netherlands announced assistance to Ukraine with weapons and maintenance of F-16s
Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced a new military aid package for Kyiv, which concerns the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets, during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s defense on Friday, September 6.
The country’s Ministry of Defence reports this.
The Netherlands will provide maintenance equipment for Ukraine’s F-16s, as well as air-to-air missiles that the fighters can use to defend Ukrainian airspace, Brekelmans said.
Due to operational security concerns, the Dutch defence minister did not provide any specific information regarding the quantity and types of equipment in question.
He also did not specify the planned time for the provision of assistance, but the Netherlands is striving to deliver the necessary funds to Ukraine as quickly as possible.
"The Netherlands will provide funds in the amount of 80 million euros. In addition to a large number of spare parts, the package includes generators, small vehicles, necessary maintenance materials, specialized tools and boarding ramps," he said.
Ukraine has been operating F-16s since late summer and is currently believed to have just six aircraft from the Netherlands.
