According to military analyst Ihal Levin, either Soviet bombs from Ukrainian warehouses or American MK.82/83 with a Ukrainian module are used as a warhead. Aviation expert Agil Rustamzade noted that a solid-fuel booster or even a jet engine is probably located in the tail section.

The Air Force is testing its own analogue of a guided aerial bomb. In the published video, the bomb is suspended from a Su-24M bomber. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Combat Aviation of Ukraine".

The video shows a Su-24M of the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade of Ukraine accompanied by a Su-27UB from the 831st BrTA.

"The bomber is performing a test flight to test a new guided aerial bomb. The fighter jet is escorting it to control the undocking and subsequent planning. The takeoff is carried out in a tight "wing to wing" combat formation, which requires greater concentration during the flight," the publication says.

According to the authors, the aircraft was removed from storage after the start of the full-scale invasion and underwent major repairs to extend its flight life.

Military analyst and senior lieutenant of the Israel Defence Forces Yihal Levin notes that the published footage is reminiscent of the American JDAM-ERs previously used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

There is no official information, but it is possible that the warhead will be a Soviet-made bomb taken from Ukrainian warehouses, or an American MK.82/83 warhead with a Ukrainian inertial/GPS planning and guidance kit.

Earlier, the Chief of Aviation of the Ukrainian Air Force, Serhiy Holubtsov, said in early June that the first tests of these Ukrainian bombs were expected in the near future.

Testing of the CAB analogue

According to military analyst Agil Rustamzade, the Soviet-made bomb was given a module with folding wings and an aerodynamic fairing. The tail section has X-shaped rudders and, probably, a solid-fuel booster or even a jet engine.

"With a high degree of probability, we were shown an aerial bomb that is already completing its testing cycles and will soon be accepted into service. There is no shortage of Soviet-made aerial bombs in Ukraine. As a result, Ukraine can receive a cheap, effective and, most importantly, mass-produced means of destruction," Rustamzade believes.
