Shmyhal shared details about difficult negotiations with the IMF

The Ukrainian leadership is holding difficult negotiations with the International Monetary Fund mission on Ukraine’s budget for 2025. The actions of Kyiv and international donors are being discussed.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a press conference.

As the Prime Minister noted, the IMF mission is working in Ukraine, and this is the first mission that is taking place offline with the presence of the mission leadership in Kyiv during the war.

"We work practically around the clock: during the day we work with the mission, at night the mission interacts with Washington, seven days a week. This is difficult work, a difficult mission, difficult negotiations, many challenges," he said.

According to him, this mission is focused on 2025, and there is a discussion about what the 2025 budget should be, what steps Ukraine should take, and what actions are expected from the IMF and G7 partners.

"Because the plans for 2024 in the IMF program were different from what is actually happening. Therefore, we are entering 2025 from scratch. This mission is extraordinary and complex. I do not have the authority to announce the results, since the mission is ongoing; after its completion, there will be a general report, while the work continues, negotiations continue," Shmyhal added.
