In Chernivtsi, a large-scale tax evasion scheme was uncovered at a medical center

BES in Chernivtsi uncovered a tax evasion scheme in a medical center.

This was reported by the CU BES in Chernivtsi region.

Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Chernivtsi region uncovered a large-scale tax evasion scheme by the management of a medical center in Chernivtsi.

The investigation found that company employees received the minimum wage and also worked without official documentation. The unofficial part of the monetary compensation was given in cash in envelopes by the officials of the medical institution.

Thus, the company evaded paying personal income tax and the military levy in particularly large amounts.

Currently, BES detectives have conducted searches at the office of the medical center and at the residences of those involved in the criminal scheme. As a result of the searches, rough records, mobile phones, computer equipment, and envelopes with cash for paying unofficial salaries were seized.

The pre-trial investigation for signs of a criminal offense under Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by the detectives of the CU BES in Chernivtsi region, with operational support from the SSU in Chernivtsi region, and procedural guidance from the prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
