An official of the Lubny Emergency Service promised a man disability registration for 20 thousand dollars

Roman Vorona was detained while receiving the first installment of a $5,000 bribe.

Deputy Head of the Lubny State Emergency Service (SES) Roman Vorona demanded a bribe for the unimpeded departure of a military-liable individual across the border — the suspect was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) while receiving $5,000, reports the publication «Poltavshchyna» according to its sources.

Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine detained the Deputy Head of the Lubny District Department of the Main Directorate of the SES in Poltava region, Roman Vorona, while receiving a $5,000 bribe. In April 2024, a man approached Vorona, stating his intention to leave the country. The official then offered to arrange for the man to receive a disability status and all the necessary documents for departure. The cost for all services amounted to $20,000.

As reported by the press service of the Oktyabrskyi District Court of Poltava, on October 1, 2024, 34-year-old Roman Vorona was given a preventive measure — detention with the possibility of bail set at 242,000 UAH.

Since the prosecution filed a motion to set bail at more than 1.5 million UAH, law enforcement will appeal the chosen preventive measure in the Poltava Court of Appeal.

An additional search conducted on Roman Vorona resulted in the seizure of items, including a Makarov pistol.

According to Roman Vorona’s declaration, since 2022, he has held the position of Deputy Head - Head of the Civil Protection Measures Organization Department of the Lubny District Department of the Main Directorate of the SES in Poltava. Prior to this, he worked as the Head of the Orzhytsia District Department of the SES. The declaration also states that Vorona is married and has a daughter. Roman Vorona has not declared anything else — he has no real estate, car, or savings. Roman Vorona’s salary amounts to 594,317 UAH for 2023.
